Pike Lake State Park
Pike Lake State Park in Bainbridge in southeast Ohio offers many of the same amenities of other man-made lake state parks in Ohio. The relatively small lake is in the foothills of the Appalachian Plateau. Due to this, this state park is in a picturesque setting. Camping, paddling, hiking, and fishing opportunities await those who wish to get away to this rustic park.
Land Activities
Even with its small size, Pike Lake offers several camping options. For instance, there is a well-wooded campground for those wishing to tent camp or to bring their camper. Seasonal cabins and a large group lodge are also available. This state park offers whatever you may need in terms of staying there!
Roughly six miles of trails invite those that want to get more in touch with the forested region. Be prepared for the sudden changes in elevation on many of the hiking trails. Several picnicking areas welcome those needing a food break, and a nature center teaches about the park and the flora and fauna.
Water Activities
Pike Lake itself encompasses only 13 acres. Due to this, larger boats must stay off the lake. On the other hand, smaller, no power craft are welcome, as are those with low electric horsepower. Most enjoy the water at Pike Lake on a canoe, kayak, or paddle boat since the lake is small enough to use these on. To make this easier, the camp store makes several of these craft available for rent.
Those wishing to fish find a lake of bluegill, crappie, bass, and, yes, pike. In addition, a beach is also open to those wishing to get themselves wet by swimming.
Pike Lake State Park
With all of this being said, Pike Lake State Park is a small, cozy park that offers many of the same amenities and activities as the larger parks. In addition, it is nearby several other state parks, including Paint Creek, Rocky Fork, Lake White, and Shawnee.
